Thomas Lechford arrives in Boston.

The first practicing lawyer in Boston, Lechford is soon accused of trying to improperly influence a case by speaking to a juror outside the court room and is barred from appearing in court. He returns to England in 1641. Although trained in law back in England, John Winthrop and Nathaniel Ward are among those do not practice law in Boston.
